Happy Sunday! Tennessee was chilly and rainy today, but we did spend the two hours that were free of rain to go to a new-ish park and walk, walk, walk. Everyone we know seems to have a FitBit now, so we are desperate to meet our goals and kick each other’s butts. It’s becoming a real problem, but I guess it’s a healthy problem, right? Anyways, I’m finally in bed and ready to draw a random winner of the oh-so cute Scabib!
This winner holds a special place in my heart. I worked with this beautiful woman when we were just pimply teenagers at a local grocery store in our small town. We’ve since reconnected through Facebook and had our babies around the same time. Her baby is a miracle. I know all babies are miracles, but this particular baby had a very difficult entrance to the world and it is nothing short of a miracle that she is here today. You can read all about their brave story here.
Yesterday was Belle’s 8th Birthday! I can’t believe I’ve had her for 8 years, or that she’s 56 in dog years. She’s still super energetic and drives us just as crazy as she did 8 years ago. We were too busy having a lazy day yesterday to celebrate so we had a “Belle Day” today instead.
First, we took her to Petsmart to have a little puppy shopping spree. Of course, she mostly barked at other dogs and begged us to hold her.
Then, we took her to Sonic to have her very own ice cream cone. We never give her table food, but we know she loves ice cream thanks to my parents. While we were living in Albania for a year, Belle lived with her Grandparents in Texas, where she was slightly spoiled…and gained a few pounds.
We ended the day at the park because her favorite thing (besides chasing sticks) is going for walks with the family.
I think Belle had a perfect Birthday, she even got what she wanted most…to have the cat locked out of the house.
Hey there, long time-no see, I know… We have had visitors since Thursday (great friends of mine), and they will be with us until Friday. We are having a great time touring the city, but there’s little time left for writing! I cannot wait to fill you in on our week, but until then here’s a look at some of the Christmas decor around the city.
Husband and I took a nice walk around the city last week when we needed some holiday cheer. Nothing could cheer us up more then the window displays in all the department stores!
Barney’s window has been a HUGE controversy this year. (They made the Disney characters look like super models…in case you haven’t heard.) However, I think the display was very cute, and not nearly as distasteful as it may come off. There is actually a super cute short Disney movie playing in all the windows that I think is adorable.
We ended our walk at Rockefeller Center! It was uber-crowded, but we managed to make our way to the famous tree.
Hope you find some time to enjoy the Christmas cheer around you, wherever you are!
