Luna’s Rags

I really really try not to go crazy getting new clothes for Luna, but these cute new styles, shops and designs keep popping up in my Instagram and at some point (usually late at night as I pretend to stay up and write) I lose all sense of control and mindlessly order a graphic tee/moccasins/head-wrap/up-cycled romper and pretend to be surprised when it arrives in the mail a week later. I’m not even sorry. One of my fav new shops that I stalk, always hoping for coupon codes and special offers, is Rags to Raches. Their rompers are totally on fleek. Just take a look.

Who doesn’t love a kid in a romper?

Rags to Raches is an online shop that sells apparel and accessories for men, women and children, but they specialize in the coolest rompers you ever did see. The designs are unique, simple and gender neutral. You won’t see any other romper like them. The fabrics are soft and beautiful and always a great color. It’s great quality, durable, stretchy and there aren’t any itchy tags that you’ll end up ripping out.

When my romper arrived I was a little confused by the fact that there were no snaps or fasteners of any sort at the crotch and inner seam of the romper. I was worried that it would be a struggle to get it on and off Luna, especially when it came time to changing her diaper. So, when diaper duty time rolled around I held my breath as I laid Luna down and slowly began pulling the romper over her shoulders. I expected it to stretch out and be an extra challenge added to our process. Shockingly, it was not at all difficult. In fact, it was super easy, maybe easier than pants or anything with snaps. It very quickly slipped down to her ankles and back up when I was done.

We love the Rags To Raches romper and it’s been a hit everywhere we go too. I’m itching for more rompers! If you’ve got, or know, a little one you must check out Rags to Raches online store and don’t forget to follow them on Instagram for all the latest designs, discount codes and giveaway!

A Dream Tee

Before our recent trip to Disney I spent days..weeks..okay, months scouring Pinterest, Etsy and Instagram, hunting for the cutest Disney outfits for Luna. After all, it was her first trip, and I do love buying her adorable Disney paraphernalia. While looking for tees, I came across a shop called The Blue Envelope and fell in love with their “Cinderella” tee.  Lucky for me (and you!) The lady behind the shop, Amanda, and I worked together to bring you a review and a discount code! Woohoo!

My fav! Her dreams are soooo big!
My fav! Her dreams are soooo big!

I loved the shirt too much to wait until Disney to put it on Luna. We had some fun at home putting together outfits with the shirt before landing on the perfect one for Disney.

yellow pants

The t-shirt is super soft, high-quality and adorable. I’ve washed it a few times now, and it has kept its shape and color. Considering, I suck at separating the wash, that’s a very good sign that it’s held up.

A rare sweet moment between these two...

Then, Luna finally got to wear the top at Disney! It was a HUGE hit. I paired it with her Kickin Legs custom Mickey Mouse leggings, her Nike’s and her H&M hat. She strutted her stuff all over Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and got many compliments.

So cute and cozy that she fell fast asleep on the Kilimanjaro Safari…

Disney was a blast, and I’m so glad I found some great shops to stock up on Disney attire. AND, great news for you… Amanda from The Blue Envelope is offering each and everyone of you a 20% discount on your order! Just use the code DISNEY when you checkout.  Shop here. Sweet!

Big thanks to the Blue Envelope, check out her Etsy shop, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with her latest designs.

Happy Shopping and Cheers!

#14DaysOfMe Challenge Complete

Two weeks ago, I challenged myself to a #14daysofme challenge wherein everyday I must pick one thing I love about myself, capture it in photo and share it via social media. While aware that this may appear to be narcissistic, I did it to not only change my own inner voice, but to encourage you to change yours. Positive self-talk is one of the most effective ways to improve depression and anxiety, but it takes a lot of work to change that negative inner-voice. The #14daysofme challenge was my answer to kicking off better habits and thoughts about myself.

The first two days were easy. It’s simple to find at least two things you like about yourself, but by the third day it started getting a little challenging. I began questioning anything I liked… What if I share this and everyone thinks “really? she likes that about herself?” What if I’m wrong? What if I sound cocky? What if I don’t like anything about myself? I almost asked Husband to help me out a few times, but I never never did.  You know what? I found something everyday.

And, what’s more, everyone was super supportive. I cannot tell you how nervous I was to post each photo, but everyone single one was met with words of encouragement, agreement and even appreciation. It started getting easier to find what I like about myself. I began feeling more confident and am now very aware when that negative voice sneaks back in and tries to knock me down. THAT is a huge step in the right direction. Oh how, I hope hope hope my little challenge may have challenge one of you to do the same and change your inner voice!

By the end of the two weeks, I couldn’t stop thinking of things I like about myself. In fact, today, the final day, I had a list of things I could have shared, but after reading this beautiful essay by Glennon over at Momastery, I decided to appreciate my many faults. I highly recommend reading it if you have or know anyone who has any sort of mental illness. (addiction, anxiety, depression, etc).

Help us manage our fire, yes, but don’t try to extinguish us.Tweet: What we mentally different need is respect. Help us manage our fire, yes-but don’t try to extinguish us. @momastery http://ctt.ec/e11Cc+ ‎ That fire that almost killed us is the same fire we’ll use to light up the world. And so we don’t want you to take what we’ve got, we just want help learning how to use what we’ve got for good.  – Glennon

(Funny, how you find just what you need at the exact right moment.)

So here it is, all 14 days of me…

The challenge may be over, but it’s just the beginning to my new habit of loving and encouraging myself. What’s more, is this little boost of confidence is already empowering me to encourage and remind others how they too, are beautiful and wonderful. Like, you. You, my friend are beautiful, brave, kind and strong. And don’t you forget it.

Cheers!

#14DaysOfMe

Over the years I have tried numerous techniques to help me handle my anxiety and panic attacks. Yoga, praying, counseling, medication, meditation, exercising and diet changes, just to name a few, are all practices that I have tried/still do, but there’s one that I rarely talk about because it’s a little embarrassing and pretty silly. MANY professionals and fellow mental healthy sufferers swear by it… positive self-talk.

ears

“Self-talk” is your inner-voice. It’s that little person in the back of your mind constantly telling you what you can and can’t do, what looks good on you, how much you should weigh and giving or taking away your confidence and self-worth. It’s powerful, that little voice. Small, but mighty. So mighty, that it affects how you see yourself, how you behave with others and even how high you set your goals. The power it has over you, is exactly why it is so important to recognize how you talk to yourself, and if needed, change it.

It isn’t easy to change your self-talk, but the fastest way to recognize the negative thoughts is to recognize your negative feelings. Next time you feel anxious, depressed or unworthy, stop and listen. What are you thinking? What are you telling yourself? More than likely you are dwelling on the negative and it’s time to change what you are telling yourself. Flip it around, look for the positive and tell yourself more realistic and positive things.

change

All of this thinking about how I think, has really got me thinking… how can I create better positive thinking habits?

Then, this happened. (The time I chose myself as my #wcw).

Then, Dove released this incredible video. (Imagine hearing the words you say to yourself being said out loud to someone else.)

Finally, I read about the #100happydays project.  This is a project being shared and spread like wild-fire through social media. It’s simple. Just post a different pic of something that makes you happy for a 100 straight days, using the hashtag #100happydays. (I love this idea, and plan to do it very soon.)

Each of these added up to my answer. To help myself create a habit of thinking positively and changing my inner-voice I am going to find and share something I love about myself for 14 days.

For 2 weeks, I will look at myself, inside and out, and find one thing each day to share on Instagram. I will share my photos with the hashtag #14DaysOfMe, starting tomorrow. My goal is to begin changing my self-talk and make positive thinking a habit.

I’ve got to say, that I’ve given this challenge a lot of thought over the weekend, and already begun looking at myself and debating what I love enough about myself to share on social media, and it’s challenging. Hopefully, it’s less so after two weeks. We shall see.

I’d love for all of you to join me in this challenge and see how it affects your own inner-voice. If you want to try it with me, then please use the hashtag #14daysofme so I can see all of your beautiful photos!

In 14 days I’ll be reporting back with the outcome of the project. To view my pics and thoughts each day follow me on Instagram @PositivelyPanicked.

Cheers!

It’s Taken Over

IMG_20140220_211700

This last week has been oh-so busy. My sister and her family flew in from Texas to stay with us and meet Luna. My sis-in-law flew in from New York to meet Luna. Other friends flew in from NY to meet Luna. Different friends had a “last night” with us as they prepared to move away. Needless to say, there were lots of dinners out, cooking at home, cleaning and getting out of the house with me and Luna. It was GREAT to see people and do things, but unfortunately the “over-exerting” myself caused some damage and I’ve been put on bed rest.

Bed rest!? I didn’t know that was a possibility after pregnancy, but here I am…in bed. Boo. I should/could be using all this time in bed to write inspiring blogs, share funny stories from the week and edit photos, but nah. I’m sorry for myself and pissed that I’ve regressed a little so instead I have just snuggled Luna for hours and hours and watch approximately 357 episodes of How I Met Your Mother.

But, I just put Luna down to sleep (without me) and was browsing Instagram (something else I’ve spent too much time doing) and came to the realization that in her short 25 days on Earth, Luna has already taken over my Instagram, Facebook and blog already. Every single photo is of her. I can’t help it though, she is really just too darn cute. So, today I’m sharing my fav Insta-baby photos. Enjoy… and you’re welcome.

Babies, Babies, Everywhere

There’s a scene in Gilmore Girls where Lorelei calls Rory to make sure she is doing what she needs to when it comes to uh… protection. Rory, obviously confused by this sudden worry, asks what is going on with her Mother.  “You have got to figure, if he shoots, he scores. I mean, look around you. There are babies popping out all over the place!” exclaims Lorelai. Rory responds with “You are in a maternity ward! You’ve got a skewed sample there.”

This is how I feel about the amount of baby boys being born. Everyone is popping out baby boys! In Texas, between 6 friends, 3 cousins and my sister there have been 11 boys born in the last 3 years and 0 girls. ZERO. The odds are definitely in favor of me having a girl. I don’t care either way, but it just makes sense.

I love all these precious boys though…just look how stinkin’ adorable they are…

I hate that they boys barely know me since I so rarely get to see them. I miss their births, most of their birthdays and every other sort of celebration. My friend, Danica, was due to have her baby boy in a couple of weeks, but I kept insisting that she must have him over Labor Day weekend so I can be there for at least one birth. So, being the great friend that she is, she went into to labor less than 12 hours after my arrival.

Besides, all my friend’s precious boys, I got to spend so much (yet not enough) time with my nephew, Micah. Last time I saw him he was only a month old, now he is almost 6 months! This was also Husband’s first time to meet him.

A Wedding Seen Through Instagram

My cousin’s wedding in Chicago was beautiful and a blast! This is the first wedding Husband and I have been to together since our wedding. Being at a family wedding, thinking of our own and being pregnant made me a sentimental mess. I teared up when the bride walked down the aisle, when they were announced “Mr. and Mrs.”, when the best man gave his speech and when the bride’s grandfather got up to dance. It was just so sweet!

At the cocktail hour we found coasters that asked the guests who use Instagram to use a specific hashtag on all their photos so the bride and groom could easily see all the photos taken at their wedding. Genius! I was excited to start snapping and hashtagging some photos. Husband…well Husband not only got excited, but soon believed he was their actual photographer. I am not exaggerating when I tell you he took 120 Instagram photos at this wedding.

Cousin, I’m sorry. I’m sure you are rueing the day you came up this idea.

Between the two of us we took some fun and snazzy photos of their big day…

Have any of you used a specific hashtag at a special event or big party? I’d like to try it for my next big shindig…maybe a baby shower!

Cheers!
